WEBELOS
  For Cub Scouts and Parents...

For boys preparing to cross-over into Boy Scouts this is an exciting time. The road ahead is full of challenge and fun adventures taking scouting to the next level. The boys will have so much fun with their adventures they may not even realize the leadership skills and life skills they learn along the way.

Troop 331 Webelos to Boys Scout

Troop 331 believes strongly in the scouting program. We want any and all boys to have the opportunity to join and enjoy scouting. Whether you join our troop, Troop 331 or not, we want your boy to join Boys Scouts... Period!

Please visit several troops before making a decision. Choose a Troop that is right for your boy.

If you join a troop and you find or are finding its not for your son or you, Shop around, look at other troops, you can transfer! Don't drop out of scouting.

Dens and packs often call to find out, when a good time is to visit Troop 331. Anytime is the Answer. We have open meetings each and every week. Please check our web site or call our Scoutmaster to make sure there is a meeting. We will have your boy involved in our meeting and have one of our leaders answer any and all of your questions. Please feel free to join us anytime.

Boy Scouts

More Info...

Pack

Troop

In Cub Scouts you part of a Pack lead by a Pack Leader. In Boy Scouts you are part of a Troop and although you have an adult Scoutmaster in charge of the Troop, the troop is lead by the boys. The boys elect a Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and Assistant Patrol Leaders (ASPLs) who plan the meetings, lead the activities, and determine the calendar of Events.

Dens

Patrols

In Cub Scouts the boys are divided in Dens, with an adult Den Leader. The Dens are identified by Den Numbers. In Boy Scouts, the boys form Patrols. There is no adult leader rather the boys elect a Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, and a Quarter Master. They determine their own Patrol Name.

Scouting Benefits Bottom Line

What happens to a Scout? For every 100 boys who join Scouting, records indicate that:

  • RARELY will one be brought before the juvenile court system
  • 2 will become Eagle Scouts
  • 17 will become future Scout volunteers
  • 12 will have their first contact with a church
  • 1 will enter the clergy
  • 5 will earn their church award
  • 18 will develop a hobby that will last through their adult life
  • 8 will enter a vocation that was learned through the merit badge system
  • 1 will use his Scouting skills to save his own life
  • 1 will use his Scouting skills to save the life of another person

  • 89% of senior class presidents were Scouts
  • 80% of junior class presidents were Scouts
